Remembering

Over Christmas, my computer decided to crash!  Oh the joys of having everything gone… I’m sure you can hear the sarcasm!  After a couple of weeks without a computer in the school room, I woke up with the wonderful idea of hooking up the old one!   Granted, this computer is slow, oh so slow, and has a mind of it’s own at times, I can still post, and surf the web!  I had forgotten the pictures that were left on it when we hurriedly put it away!  So, now I have delighted in looking back at old pictures I took what seems like eons ago!  Here are a few, that will make you smile!

Play dough

Well, I’ve had a hard time getting back into the rhythm  of school since Christmas.  I don’t know what it is, I just don’t want to do it.  I know it is terrible, but it is just fact! DSCN7791

Sad, the kids pick up on it quickly, and they have no motivation at all.  Well, I’ve been doing some reading and research, and I do believe I’m getting back on track.  We have a lot to catch up on, but I think we can do it before the end of the year.  I do not feel like I can properly teach my teens all the way through high school, there is way too much stuff I know nothing about, but with the help of the internet we are making some progress.  For all it’s problems, you tube is beginning to be a favorite of mine!  There are soooo many instructional movies on there!  You can even find the science experiments they need to do.  We don’t have the stuff to do them, but at least they can watch them being done.  Tabitha is slowly learning some stuff.  She is learning her colors and shapes and how to count.

DSCN7864According to Tabs, the red, pink, and purple crayons are “girl”crayons. The rest are boy! lol

She is super smart, and picks everything up quickly, but I often have issues trying to keep her busy during school.  So today, we tried something, I had heard of home made play dough, but had never attempted to make it myself.  Wellllllll, if you have little ones, I highly recommend making your own.  Chances are you have everything you need in the pantry other than cream of tartar, and it’s easy.

DSCN7869

Tabs helped with the makings…

DSCN7870

DSCN7871

It took less than 10 minutes to make, and she was busy almost the entire time we were working on school!

DSCN7872

She had a blast, and the best part  we have all agreed, it doesn’t smell like regular play dough!  We used strawberry banana jello, and it has a wonderful strawberry scent!!

Recipe:

1 cup flour

1/2 cup salt

2Tbls cream of tartar

1 cup warm water

2Tbls oil

1 3 oz packet of jello

Mix it all together in pot, put it on stove and cook till thick while stirring  Knead while cooling, first with spoon then with hands until cool.  It should be smooth and lots of fun!  Tabs sprinkled in some glitter while it was cooking, just because she likes everything shiny!  You don’t have to add the jello, but it does make it smell good, and there are tons of recipes online!

Tabitha keeps going in there and saying yuck!

DSCN7310

He is getting so fast…

DSCN7334

Trying to get his picture is getting more and more difficult!

This sound…

There is “this sound” that I HATE to hear!

“This sound” has a very distinctive sound,

and once you have heard it you will never forget it.

“This sound” puts fear and trembling in me!

“This sound” always comes in the middle of the night

when it is least expected!

“This sound’ always plagues the young ones.

It is a violent sound that often leads to

medical attention, leaving mothers

and fathers helpless.

The wheezing and coughing that make up

“this sound” is awful!

“This sound” has a name, the croup, and

and I have lost waaaayyyyy to much sleep to it!

My Daddy…

1109111531a (2)

Watches me…

1109111553a

Holds my hand and protects me…

1109111553

Leads me along in the way I should go…

1109111555

Carries me when times get tough…

1109111530

For he knows time is short…

And one day, I’ll be leaving.

Work Day & Bountiful Harvest

Recently, our church was able to purchase the  building where we meet & the parsonage.  The parsonage had been rented out & needed some repairs.  We pulled up the carpet to find hard woods under half of the living space.  What a blessing to know we won’t have to put carpet or laminate back down!  The floors need work, but we a praying it won’t be tooo tooo bad!   Here are some before pics…

DSCN6626

This room will be a kitchenette for the prophets quarters…

DSCN6628

A little dark, but this will the living room for the prophets quarters…

DSCN6629

Bedroom A for the prophets quarters…

DSCN6631

Bedroom B for prophets quarters…

DSCN6630

Bathroom for prophets quarters… (Please pray we can get the plumbing worked out here without too much expense!)

The house will be spit in half, with half of it prophets chambers and the other living quarters for the Francis’.  They are missionaries going out from Lighthouse to her native country Taiwan!   They will be starting deputation in the near future.   We are excited to see them doing what the Lord has called them to do, although I get weepy just thinking about them leaving!

This will be their part of the the house…

DSCN6625

This is the family room looking out of the kitchen…

(I failed to get a picture of the kitchen!)

DSCN6635

Bedroom 1…

DSCN6637

Bedroom 2…

DSCN6638

The bathroom is L shaped…

DSCN6639

Praying we can replace the shower…

DSCN6640

Laundry room… (anybody know of anything that will remove permanent marker??)

DSCN6634

General work station…  (don’t ya just love that wonderful carpet in the KITCHEN?)

While we were working inside, some of the men were outside working on some trees in the front yard.  Some had been damaged in the storms we had earlier this year, and one was wreaking havoc with the foundation of the house.

DSCN6645

The boys tried hard to split word with a maul.

DSCN6675

DSCN6794

Sandy ended up getting some tree work!  Yay!

DSCN6812

Pastor got to show us his ability with the chain saw..  (does it bother anyone else to see that he is not looking where he is sawing???)

DSCN6831

Seth had a blast with the back pack blower!

DSCN6818

Natalie got to spoil a grandbaby!

DSCN6889

He doesn’t look like he minds.

DSCN6860

That was a good size tree…

DSCN6876

I wish I had gotten some pictures with him cutting down the trees, but I was busy painting.

DSCN6911

Poor David got stuck in the bucket when the motor in the truck cut off.   Good thing he isn’t afraid of heights.

We got a lot done thanks to a lot of help.

Sunday after church they surprised us with a pounding.  Our church is one of the most giving ones I’ve seen.  They go above and beyond in their giving.  Most of our men in the church are self employed, and haven’t had much work lately.  Bryan and I know they are having it rough right now, but they still give to our family.  I personally love it when they give us a pounding!  It stocks my pantry, and they usually give us stuff I don’t usually buy! Such a blessing!

DSCN6917

Thank you Lighthouse for everything you do for us!

(Thanks to Jessica for taking all the outside pics!)

Yesterday…

Yesterday, we celebrated Tabitha’s 3rd Birthday…

DSCN6270

I am having a hard time believing she is three…

DSCN6274

She had a hard time blowing out her candles…

DSCN6275

But, she finally got them out…

DSCN6297

What do you do with a three year old for their birthday????

DSCN6302

We took her to the park!  (Hence the frilly sweater with tennis shoes, I forgot her jacket!)

DSCN6282

Some friends came along, and made it much more  fun!

DSCN6291

She ran…

DSCN6292

Climbed…

DSCN6293

slid…

DSCN6325

zip lined… (not sure what you call it!)

DSCN6313

walked the toadstools…

DSCN6364

swang…  (what is the past tense of swing???)

DSCN6315

continuously hid her face from the camera…

DSCN6330

And over all had a pretty good time!

DSCN6365

We came home, and I “tried” to get some good close ups of her actually looking at me…

DSCN6366

She threatened  me with a stick…

DSCN6374

sucked on a leaf…

DSCN6373

gave me lots of fake smiles…

DSCN6375

pouted…

DSCN6376

And finally threw up the binoculars!  I guess she was tired of the camera being in her face.  lol
